Kalash
Kalash is a family learning app for exploring Hindu stories, deities, mantras and values. Kalash can be used in guest mode, and parent account features are optional.
The rest of this policy explains each of those points in full.
Kalash is published by the developer identified as the seller on the app's App Store listing ("we", "our", "us"). In this policy, "Kalash" and "the app" mean Kalash for iOS, version 1.1.

This policy covers Kalash for iOS and communications you send to us. Kalash also uses certain service providers to operate specific features, as described in Section 9. Third-party websites or services that you choose to open from Kalash are governed by their own privacy practices, as described in Section 8.
Kalash saves certain information locally on your device so that your family's experience continues between sessions. Depending on which features you use, this may include:
Parent alert records do not store the words entered by the child, the text that triggered the alert, or the response shown.
In this version of Kalash, this information is stored locally on the device. It is not synced to Kalash servers, Supabase, or another server. It may remain on your device until changed in the app, reset, or removed by deleting the app or clearing app data. If the app is deleted, local-only information may be lost.
Kalash v1.1 does not provide cloud progress sync or multi-device learning progress.
Kalash can be used in guest mode. Creating or signing in to a parent account is optional.
If you create or sign in to a parent account, Kalash uses Supabase for authentication and account processing. Depending on the account features used, Kalash and Supabase may process:
Authentication sessions may be stored securely on your device so you can stay signed in. Kalash uses account information for account functionality, session restoration, password recovery, email verification, sign out and account deletion.
Creating an account or signing in does not upload existing local child profile, avatar, learning progress, Parent Alerts, or Parent PIN information to Supabase in this version.
Kalash Premium subscriptions are purchased through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Apple processes the payment and manages billing.
Kalash uses StoreKit to obtain the product and entitlement information needed to show subscription options, complete a purchase, restore purchases and unlock Premium content. This may include product identifiers, entitlement status, expiration or revocation timing when available, StoreKit environment and verification state. This StoreKit entitlement information is used on device and is not sent to Kalash or Supabase servers in this version. Kalash does not receive payment-card information from Apple.
Kalash supports Restore Purchases. Restore Purchases checks Apple StoreKit entitlement state and updates Premium access when an active verified entitlement is found.
Subscription management and cancellation happen through Apple. Deleting a Kalash parent account does not cancel an Apple subscription.
Ask Rishi is an educational guide within Kalash designed to help families learn about Hindu traditions and values. Its responses are intended for learning, reflection and family conversation.
In Kalash v1.1, Ask Rishi is limited to curated, non-live learning content. Choosing an Ask Rishi topic displays prepared educational material for family learning and reflection.
If a future version changes how Ask Rishi processes information, we will update this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy disclosures as appropriate.
Ask Rishi is not a substitute for a parent, teacher, doctor, counsellor or other qualified professional, and it should not be relied on for emergency, medical, legal or mental-health advice. Children should speak with a parent, guardian, teacher or another trusted adult when they need personal help or support.
This version of Kalash:
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share app-user personal information with advertising networks or data brokers.
Kalash may contain clearly identified links that open third-party services or websites at the user's request. These links open outside Kalash, in another app or in your browser.
Once a user leaves Kalash or opens a third-party service, that third party's privacy practices and terms apply, and we do not control them. Parents may wish to supervise the use of these links, or to use their device's built-in controls to restrict them.
Kalash v1.1 uses the following third-party services for the functions described below:
Information processed by these providers may be handled in locations where they operate. Their own privacy policies describe their practices for operational, security, billing, fraud-prevention, legal and service-provider processing.
The current version of Kalash does not request access to your device's location, contacts, camera, photo library, microphone for recording, or advertising identifier. Kalash uses audio playback to play devotional and educational audio contained in the app.
Kalash is a family learning app that may be used by families, including younger users.
Children do not need to provide an email address to use the core app experience. Optional account creation is parent/account-holder oriented.
In this version, child nickname/profile choices, learning progress, avatar choices, favourites, Parent Alerts, and Parent PIN information are stored locally on the device. Kalash contains no third-party advertising, does not access the iOS advertising identifier for advertising or tracking, does not engage in cross-app tracking, and does not sell personal information or share it with advertising networks or data brokers.
If a future version introduces the collection or transmission of children's personal information, we will update our practices and this Privacy Policy, and implement any notices, consent mechanisms or other protections required by applicable law, before enabling that functionality.
Parents and guardians should supervise their children's use of external websites or services opened from Kalash.

Depending on applicable law, you may have certain rights regarding personal information we hold about you. To make a request, contact us at the address in section 1.
Information such as personalization and learning progress is stored locally on the device. Kalash does not maintain a server-side copy of this locally stored information in the current version, so we cannot retain or delete it on your behalf.
Deleting Kalash from the device will ordinarily remove information stored locally by the app, subject to the behaviour of the device operating system and any device-level backup or restoration services controlled by the user or platform provider.
Parent account information is retained while your account exists or as needed to provide account features and meet legal obligations, security and fraud-prevention needs, operational requirements, or service-provider backup/log handling where applicable.
Apple subscription and purchase history are managed by Apple under the user's Apple account and Apple's policies.
Support and privacy correspondence may be retained as reasonably necessary to respond to the request, maintain appropriate records, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and protect our rights.
If you are signed in to a parent account, you can request account deletion from Account Settings in the app.
When deletion succeeds, Kalash returns you to guest mode. In-app account deletion removes the Kalash parent account, associated server-side Kalash account records, and the corresponding authentication account.
Some information may remain where required for legal obligations, security or fraud prevention, operational records, or service-provider backups/logs where applicable.
Deleting a Kalash parent account does not delete local-only learning progress from the device in this version. This lets the family continue in guest mode on the same device.
Deleting a Kalash parent account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Apple subscriptions must be managed or cancelled through Apple.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. Information stored on your device may also benefit from your device's passcode, biometric lock and operating-system protections when those protections are enabled, so we recommend keeping your device updated and appropriately secured.
Authentication sessions are stored using the app's secure auth storage path where supported. The parent PIN you choose is stored on your device. It protects the Parent Alerts area within the app - the rest of Kalash works without it. It is a convenience feature rather than a security guarantee, and it is not a substitute for your device passcode or your device's own parental controls. Kalash has no way to recover a forgotten PIN.
No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
We may update this Privacy Policy as Kalash evolves. If we introduce functionality that materially changes how user information is collected, used, transmitted or shared, we will update this Privacy Policy and applicable App Store privacy disclosures as appropriate. The effective date at the top of this policy indicates when it was most recently revised.
